REASSESSMENT NOTICE

General Reassessment of Real Estate in Lexington has been completed. Notices of property values were mailed the week of  May 2, 2022. Reassessment values can be viewed at www.vamanet.com. Assessment Appeals will be accepted through email or mail and must be received no later than May 25, 2022. Taxpayers who do not receive a reassessment notice should contact the Contracted Assessor’s Office at 540-460-3383The Board of Equalization hearing dates will be listed on the City of Lexington website www.lexingtonva.gov and in the News Gazette in July 2022.

Responsibilities

The commissioner of revenue, as a representative of the City of Lexington and the Commonwealth of Virginia, serves our community by:

  • Fairly, accurately, and in accordance with the law assessing property taxes and administering tax relief
  • Providing accurate and useful statistical information with which city officials and community members can make decisions
  • Facilitating understanding of applicable tax laws and procedures
  • Fairly, but aggressively, administering business taxes
  • Striving to continuously improve ourselves, our organization, and our procedures to better serve the citizens of Lexington
